Why does Good Grocer have a volunteer program?
We believe quality, healthy food should be affordable. Volunteering ensures we are able to keep our everyday prices low.
In addition, volunteering makes it possible for us to offer a 25% discount on groceries to eligible families and individuals who are food insecure.
It also empowers everyone to contribute to our community, placing value on the gifts and talents of all people regardless of socio-economic class.
What is the benefit of volunteering?
The benefit of becoming a volunteer is the diverse community built as together we provide healthy, quality food at affordable prices for everyone. Families and individuals who are food insecure can apply to receive a 25% discount on everything!
How often does a volunteer have to work?
Volunteers sign up for a 2.5-hour shift once every four weeks. The schedule is set by one of our volunteer coordinators, and volunteers can choose a day and shift that works for them.
Who can volunteer?
We welcome everyone to volunteer. We believe everyone has a gift to contribute: every race, religion, sexual orientation, gender identification, immigration status, physical ability, educational background, socioeconomic class, or age. EVERYONE.
What do volunteers contribute?
Volunteers run virtually every aspect of the store, from the cash registers to administrative tasks to stocking. If you have a certain area of expertise, let our volunteer coordinators know. Not sure you have something to offer? Talk to us. We believe you do.
How can I sign up to volunteer?
Good Grocer is moving, so we aren’t currently accepting new volunteers. Our new home is 2650 Nicollet Ave, just four blocks away from our current location and right on a bus line! (Learn more here). The Nicollet Ave store will open in late 2019. To be notified when volunteer applications are accepted and to stay up-to-date on other news and announcements, sign up for our newsletter!
