MODEL: Good Grocer is a volunteer powered grocery store that relies on over 600 volunteers to operate every aspect of the store.

COMMITMENT: Volunteers power every aspect of our store, and are committed to managing inventory, stocking shelves, cashiering and bagging groceries. Each volunteer contributes 2.5 hours every four weeks. However, many volunteers enjoy the experience so much they ask to be scheduled more frequently, sometimes every week or two.

Volunteer Commitments and Conditions*

By placing a checkmark next to each statement, you indicate that you have read and accepted the following volunteer commitments and conditions.

The minimum volunteer commitment is 2.5 hours every four weeks.

All volunteers are eligible for a 20% discount on all their Good Grocer purchases. Volunteer discounts will be activated after a volunteer completes his/her first work slot.

Because we are a volunteer run grocery store, we cannot operate without our volunteers’ consistent attendance and timely arrival. Therefore it’s critical that volunteers do everything they can to be on time and limit their absenteeism. However, if you are unable to attend one of your scheduled shifts, you can go to the Good Grocer website and submit a ‘Rescheduling a Work Slot’ form.

A volunteer gets deactivated by accumulating 3 unreported absences within a calendar year. An unreported absence is defined as someone who has not submitted a 'Rescheduling a Work Slot’ form prior to their scheduled shift.

You are the only person who can shop with the volunteer discount. All other members of your household (children, spouse, roommates, partners) must become volunteers themselves in order to be eligible for the volunteer discount.

Volunteers are welcome to use the Good Grocer parking lot or park on the immediate side streets surrounding Good Grocer.
